Dr. Elrod attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and received his dental degree and orthodontic training from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry. He is a member and has held office in numerous organizations. He is past-president of the Greater Kansas City Orthodontic Society, UMKC Orthodontic Alumni Association and the Eastern Jackson County Dental Society. He has also served on the Board of Directors for the well-respected Foundation of Orthodontic Research. He is active in the American Association of Orthodontists, Missouri State Orthodontic Society, The Greater Kansas City Orthodontic Society and Jackson County Dental Society.

In years past, Dr. Elrod taught orthodontics at the graduate level as a part-time clinical instructor at the UMKC School of Dentistry. Dr. Elrod participates in many community activities. He enjoys sponsoring team sports, beauty pageant contestants and high school events. He and his staff all collect “Harvesters” and enjoy adopting a family during the Christmas season.

He and his wife, Janet, have two daughters, Shannon and Amy. Dr. Elrod served in the United States Air Force as a Captain in the Dental Corps and was stationed overseas in the Philippines during the Vietnam era.

In his spare time he likes to fly, sail, hunt, fish and scuba dive.
